Camera + Love = Memories Forever
Brent + Priscilla | Engagement Portraits | Austin Wedding Photographer
I must say I love it when I meet couples who are so laid back. When you love to have fun, it just makes photo sessions so much more enjoyable. Expressions are that much more genuine and you end up making lifetime friends. I had such a great time with these two and I cannot wait for their wedding next April! Brent & Priscilla's engagement photos were taken on the University of Texas at Austin campus, one of my favorite places. I hope you enjoy their story :)
1. How did you and your fiancé meet?
Our story begins on August 11, 2013 in College Station, TX. Yes, it was not that long ago. I received a text from a friend that was working at Buffalo Wild Wings when she met Brent. The text said that she had met the perfect country boy for me. She then proceeded to tell me all she had found out about him (a bit stalkerish, but with good intentions.) I just thought my friend was being crazy and I continued to study for my nursing board exam that was 2 days away. Stressed out later that night, I decided we needed to go out for drinks. In the car on the way to Northgate, the friend texted Brent and asked him if he wanted to join us. Around when Brent finally showed up to The Chicken, the friend and I were sitting with strangers we had just met. I remember seeing a tall guy with bright blue eyes and a big smile walk up. His eyes matched the shirt he was wearing. He sat down at the end of the table by my friend and began talking to everyone. I tried to make small talk from across the table and that was not working so I eventually made it to the head of the table and sat down next to him. I remember talking about country music and what he did, but I don't remember much more than that. By the end of the night, we were flirting and holding hands. That began a 3 month friendship of talking every single day and hanging out on most nights. Thanksgiving 2013 we began dating.
2. What makes you unique as a couple?
I used to think that people that got engaged after a short period of time were crazy, but now I am a part of one of those couple's and I wouldn't change a thing. I am marrying the type of man I have always dreamed about. Brent loves to cater to my crazy obsessions such as Christmas related anything and he remembers the tiniest of details (even if it came up for a split second in a conversation months ago.) We argue like brother and sister, hang out like best friends, make faces at each other like clowns and love like the love we saw from our grandparents. The unconditional type of love. We can understand each other with just looks and our laziest days are our most favorite. We have the same dreams and plans for the future. I think we're unique as a couple because we're just us and that cannot be replicated.
3. What is something you love doing together?
We love country music and concerts. Spontaneous road trips are our specialty. We drove all the way to San Antonio one afternoon (3 hour drive) just to watch a football game and drink margaritas. Traveling is something we both have a passion for. We would love to travel the world, one state and country at a time. This year we visited: Louisiana, Arkansas, Washington and Canada.
We actually love to cook with each other. I try recipes that I have found on Pinterest and he likes to share some of his recipes with me like his amazing salsa. Brent works 14 hour days Monday - Friday and I work 12 hour night shifts 3-4 times a week, it's nice to have something we both like to do together.
4. How would you describe your upcoming wedding?
Our upcoming wedding is a Spring wedding with an outdoor ceremony and reception. I would describe our wedding as a casual, laid back and fun with a combination of rustic country chic and a few vintage touches. We'll be surrounded by our families and most favorite people.
5. What advice would you give someone who is in the wedding planning process?
I received some great advice after being newly engaged and the advice was tackle one large task a month. This has made planning so simple. I tackled most of our largest expenses and vendors within the first 5 months and now until the wedding, I am just left with the small details.
I can definitely be the one to blame for our large wedding party of 7 bridesmaids, 7 groomsmen, 3 flower girls and a ring bearer. I would recommend a smaller bridal party. It is so many people to deal with and I love them all to death, but it definitely becomes stressful. We have people in all different cities and in another state making things very difficult.
Lastly, everyone is going to have their opinions, but do what is right for you and what you want to do. Don't forget to include the groom even if they can't be with you throughout every step of the process or don't want to be. This is his wedding too.
6. What are you most looking forward to at your wedding? Are you planning anything special?
I am looking forward to the entire wedding planning process to be done. I can't wait to see everything come together with our loved ones at our side. There are parts of the wedding that are not traditional so I think that will be a very unique part of our wedding, but I cannot give away our secrets just yet. I cannot wait to start my life with my love and become Mr & Mrs. and I most definitely cannot wait for our honeymoon!
"We had so much fun and absolutely loved working with you. You are so personable and it is beyond comfortable with you. We feel like we've known you forever and you were constantly making us laugh. We are beyond happy that it all worked out on campus. Sorry about all the mosquito bites, because I know my legs are covered. I am definitely glad that I got my hair and make up done for the session so I know what I like and don't like for the wedding day and how it all photographs. Thank you for being so patient with us throughout all the outfit changes, awkward faces, closed eyes, laughs and for Brent not listening half the time." - Brent & Priscilla
